Moon Journeys
Gulli Hughes and Janet Jenkins

Run by Janet Jenkins from Harvest Moon and Gulli Hughes of Moon Drummers, Moon Journeys is the trading name of the retreats, workshops, courses and pilgrimages, we organise for personal and spiritual development.
Mostly working in small groups, often with the resources of nature and our inspiring environment, we have a wide programme of events and trips (some local and some not so local!) to suite people looking to explore their inner and outer landscapes.
Gulli Hughes is a Native Swede, who has been working in the Healing Environment for many years, practising Intuitive Healing, Indian Head Massage, Ancestral Healing and much more. She is a very wonderful, fun, exciting woman, who has a wealth of experience from attending workshops and courses and undertaking spiritual pilgrimages all over the World.
Gulli has organized workshops in England and her Native Sweden and was translator and group ‘mama’ to women who visited the Arctic with Carolyn Hillyer in January 2006 and a guardian for the Dartmoor Bear Workshop in January 2007.
Gulli organizes and facilitates the monthly Moon Drummers Group and practices her Holistic therapies in the U.K., Sweden and where her travels take her.
She works with love, care and extraordinary insight and intuition.
Janet Jenkins a partner of Harvest Moon in Hitchin is committed to Fair Trade and a board member of BAFTS. She has three children and lives in Welwyn with her partner Simon and several dogs. Her background is in teaching and counselling having worked in many settings including NHS, Social Services, Arts and Recreation, and Education. She approaches all her work with patience, an open heart and an open mind. She looks at all situations from a holistic viewpoint and uses intuition, compassion and courage to help people.
Janet has spent a lifetime of self-enquiry, attending many personal development workshops, courses and experiential groups. She had personal therapy over a period of 17 years of which ten years was with a Jungian therapist. Janet has teaching and counselling qualifications from the University of Hertfordshire and she is a member of the British Association of Counsellors. Her particular interest is in eco psychology. The workshops and courses Janet facilitates are not therapy, but they are an opportunity for women to explore personal and transpersonal issues in a supportive environment and to take responsibility for their own self enquiry, learning and development.

EMERGING
Six Day women's Retreat.
Whilst staying in a remote Dartmoor Cottage, working in a safe and supportive environment with a small group of women, you will have the opportunity to seek the remote places within yourself. The venue for the retreat will be a cosy farmhouse, midst an ancient farm settlement in the heart of Dartmoor's wild land at Postbridge.
Originally built in the 16th Centuary as part of an ancient longhouse farm settlement it dates back over 800 years. Located in the very middle of Dartmoor close to the small village of Postbridge, an ideal place for a peaceful retreat. Buzzard, heron, tawny owl, deer, badger and other wildlife are regular visitors on these wild and beautiful moorlands, not to forget Dartmoor's free roaming hill ponies.
Using group work, crafts, drumming, periods of silence, time for individual reflection and exploration of inner world and Dartmoor landscapes, we will create tools to accompany us in our everyday life. Full board, accommodation in twin rooms, all materials and teaching included. Participants should be prepared, to hike on the moor. Cost £395.
5 Women enjoyed this amazing week and are slowly emerging back into our daily lives...

ISLE OF LEWIS WESTERN ISLES
24th-31st OCTOBER 2009
The Isle of Lewis dwells at the edge of the World. Our 7 day pilgrimage in October 2009 will be an opportunity to explore the sacred land, dwell with the ancestors, meet Celtic artists Simant Bostock and Jill Smith and undertake personal retreat. Sharing with a supportive group of women, there will be a chance to journey deep into our inner worlds, merge with the never ending tides of life and celebrate our own unique ever changing shorelines.
Jill Smith lived On Lewis for many years and you can visit her website. During the retreat she will be presenting a slide show and joining us in some ritual work on the land. You may remember her honouring of the Female Ancestral Line ritual at 13 Moons.
We will have sole occupancy of the Blackhouse Village at Gearrannan, painstakingly restored once derelict properties and croft land, recreating an authentic settlement offering modern facilities within the surroundings of times gone by. Traditional methods have been used to recreate the drystone masonry and thatched roofing of the original croft houses. With the backdrop of the crashing Atlantic Ocean on our doorstep and the warming peat fires in our hearths this will be a very magical journey.
The cost for this course is £635 based on a group of 10 places. The village can accommodate more so if the group expands we will reduce the cost accordingly.
You will need to make your own way to The Isle of Lewis, we can supply info about flights, trains etc and it may be possible to arrange shared travel by car in which case we can recommend a very scenic route.
This was an amazing trip photos to be posted soon.

2010-11
Many event, workshops and journeys planned but below advanced info of two very special journeys. These will also run again in 2011. Exact dates and prices to be confirmed. Please note it is expected that there will be heavy demand for places on both. (only suitable for women with a reasonable level of fitness.)

ARCTIC CIRCLE
DEEP MIDWINTER WOMEN’S RETREAT
21st – 31st January- 2010
Staying in log cabins at the edge of a frozen lake, the journey will be a weaving of the Arctic soul, (opportunities to walk the land, meet Sami craftspeople, dog sledding, sauna on the lake,) with the threads of our own cultures. Through silence, personal creative projects, women’s counsel, and drumming we will create our own moon journey in the land of the Northern Lights.
There will be the option to stay on for the Jokkmokk medieval market and visit to the Ice Hotel.
11 Places. £1400.
Preparation Circle over a weekend in October.

The cost covers flights and travel costs from Heathrow and return, accommodation, teaching, visits and activities.
It does not cover food, we will shop in Jokkmokk and carry our provisions home and share cooking with our cabin mate. You should allow about £11 a day for this. You must also have your own insurance.
The cost for the trip to the Ice Hotel will be extra too. Women can return after the ten day retreat or stay on for the extra Ice Hotel visit. Gulli will give details of the likely costs of the Ice Hotel on her return from Sweden mid Feb.
As far as equipment goes, I went on this trip with very little new expense. You need several layers of clothes to keep warm including thermals, my biggest expenses were boots that were suitable for -32 degrees and an outer coat. I got my boots from Ebay for £25. One woman did not have a special coat but wore a thick jacket with many jumpers and was fine. It is cold not wet!
If anyone would like info about the experience of going I am happy to pass this on, more technical info would be best from Gulli.
I can not explain what an impact this trip had on me on so many levels, it is an amazing opportunity to visit a very special place. I am and will always be very grateful to Carolyn for creating this journey.
I hope those of you who come will find it equally amazing.
If you would like to reserve a place please request a booking form and return by post with a £125 deposit. The group is limited to 12 including Gulli and I. Please send something about yourself and why you would like to do this journey. (Some of you have already done this I know, so you dont need to send it again!) Deposit cheques will only be cashed once places have been confirmed.
The balance will be payable in 3 installments April 1st £425 August 1st £425 November 1st £425
There will be the option to stay on for a visit to The Ice Hotel and the Winter Market at Jokkmokk. We can give you approximate costs for this.
